Mary Fê’s hand held show

ITP’s “Rare Grooves Club” was recently turned over to first year students. Mary Fê was one of the volunteers to keep it going this year, and she came in with a proposal to make it more hands on, more experimental, and collaboration and performance-oriented. This group applies many of the things we’ve been discussing: there’s peer to peer teaching, face to face meetings, the content is dynamic, the goals are dynamic, etc. I thought it might be an interesting (and fun) case to watch and help develop under the light of this class.

I asked Mary Fê if she would like to make a video version of a presentation she made on the first meeting of the club, about making music with cheap hand held game devices and open source software. Here’s the video we made (the music was made with the device+software she’s presenting):
